Cancel your subscription
You cancel a Certly subscription by deleting the account from Settings, Site details, confirming with your email address. That one action cancels any live subscription and removes your site, suppliers, certificate documents, chase history, settings and sign-in details at once, so export what you need first.
What this article covers
Certly's plans are billed monthly or once a year, and Stripe manages the subscription and takes the payments. There is one place in the product that ends a subscription: the delete account action on Settings, Site details. Confirming it cancels any live subscription and removes the account's data in the same moment.
Read this before you confirm if any of the following is true:
- You are mid-way through a certification year and an auditor may still ask for a document you hold in Certly.
- You want the reminders for one supplier to stop, but not the whole account.
- You started a free trial and are not sure whether anything needs cancelling at all.
On the trial: starting it needs no card. If you are not sure what state your own account is in, email support@usecertly.com and ask before you delete anything.
Cancel and close the account
- Decide what you need to keep
Everything is kept while the account is open: expired certificates, the versions a renewal replaced, and the chase history. Deleting removes all of it at once, so work out now what the next audit might ask for.
- Export the audit PDF while the data is still live
The PDF export of the audit-ready dashboard gives you the certificate status view per supplier as a document you can file outside Certly. Run it before you cancel, not after.
- Download your data file
The same Settings, Site details screen downloads a JSON file of your data first. Take it, and keep it somewhere your QA records live.
- Open Settings, then Site details
This is the only screen that cancels a subscription. There is no separate cancellation form to fill in and nothing to email first.
- Confirm with your email address
The delete action asks you to type your email address to confirm. Once you do, your sites, suppliers, certificate documents, chase history, settings and sign-in details are removed at once and any live subscription is cancelled.
What happens when you confirm
| What you have in Certly | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| A live subscription | Cancelled at once as part of the deletion. |
| Suppliers and required certificate types | Removed, along with the contact names, emails and phone numbers held against them. |
| Certificate documents, including versions a renewal replaced | Removed. Export the audit PDF and the data file first if you may need them. |
| Chase history, with recipients, send times and delivery results | Removed. |
| Your site name, alert thresholds and chase email wording | Removed. |
| Your sign-in details | Removed, so you can no longer sign in to the account. |
| Supplier upload links already sent | Upload links expire on their own, and the supplier records behind them are gone. |
If you wanted something narrower, or it did not work
Stop reminders for one supplier instead
If the problem is a supplier you no longer buy from, archive that supplier rather than closing the account. Archiving keeps its records and stops its reminders, so the dashboard stops asking you about a certificate you do not need.
Remove one person's details instead
If a supplier contact has asked for their personal data to be erased, their name, email and phone number can be erased on their own from the supplier's page. The certificate records stay.
If the delete action will not complete
Email support@usecertly.com from the address on the account and say what you saw. A billing question about a charge already taken belongs there too: send the detail and the team will pick it up.
If you cannot sign in to reach the screen
You sign in with your email address and password, and the delete action needs you signed in. If you are locked out, sort the sign-in first, then come back to this screen.
Questions
Where exactly do I cancel?
Settings, then Site details. The delete account action there confirms with your email address, cancels any live subscription and removes the account's data at once.
Can I cancel the subscription but keep my certificate records?
The facts we can state here cover one path: deleting the account, which cancels the subscription and removes the records together. If you want your records out, download the JSON data file and export the audit PDF before you confirm. For anything else, email support@usecertly.com.
Will I be refunded?
This article cannot settle that, and we will not promise one. Email support@usecertly.com with the charge and the date and the team will take it from there.
I am on the free trial. Do I need to cancel anything?
Starting a free trial needs no card. If you are unsure what is set up behind your account, email support@usecertly.com before you delete it; in any case, deleting the account cancels any live subscription.
What happens to upload links I already sent suppliers?
Upload links expire on their own, and once the account is deleted the supplier and certificate records behind them are gone.
Does cancelling remove my data from Stripe as well?
Stripe manages the subscription and the payments, and Certly holds your subscription status mirrored from it. Deleting the account cancels any live subscription; for questions about the payment record held by Stripe, email support@usecertly.com.
Can I stop a single supplier's chase emails without cancelling?
Yes. Archive the supplier: its records are kept and its reminders stop.
