Delete your account

You delete a Certly account yourself, from Settings, then Site details, confirming with your email address. The same screen downloads a JSON file of your data first, so take that copy before you confirm.

When you need this

Use this article when you are closing a Certly account for good: the plant has moved to another system, the trial is over, or the account was set up in error.

It is the right article only if you want the whole account gone. If what you actually need is one supplier contact's personal details removed, that is a smaller, separate action and it does not touch your certificate records. The notes below say which is which before you do anything you cannot walk back.

Deleting the account

  1. Open Settings, then Site details

The delete control lives on the Site details screen in Settings, with the rest of your site's configuration.

  2. Download the JSON file of your data

The same screen offers your data as a JSON download. Take it before you go further: deletion removes the records at once, and the file is the copy that stays with you.

  3. Export anything an auditor may still ask for

If an audit is still open, export the audit PDF from the dashboard while the records are live, so the certificate status view exists outside the account.

  4. Confirm with your email address

The deletion asks you to type the email address you sign in with. That is the confirmation step; sign-in is by email and password, so it is the address on your own account.

  5. Check what the deletion covered

Your sites, suppliers, certificate documents, chase history, settings and sign-in details are removed at once, and any live subscription is cancelled.

What goes with the account

If the screen does not do what you expect

A few things to check before you ask for help:

  • You are on Settings, Site details, not the dashboard or the suppliers list.
  • The email address you typed to confirm matches the one you sign in with.
  • You downloaded the JSON file first, if you wanted a copy. The export is offered on the same screen as the deletion.

If the deletion will not complete, or you need a record removed and cannot reach the screen, email support@usecertly.com. Every message there lands in the support desk, so write from the address on the account and say which site you mean.

Questions

Where is the delete control?

In Settings, on the Site details screen. You confirm by typing the email address you sign in with.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. The Site details screen downloads a JSON file of your data, and it is offered before the deletion, so take it first.

Does deleting the account cancel my subscription?

Yes. Any live subscription is cancelled as part of the deletion.

I only want one supplier contact's details removed, not the account.

Use the erasure action on that supplier's page, which removes the contact name, email address and phone number and leaves the certificate records in place.

Does deletion cover my suppliers' contact details as well?

Yes. Supplier company names, contact names, contact email addresses and contact phone numbers all go with the account, at once, along with the chase log of who was emailed and when.

I am on the free trial. Is there anything to cancel as well?

Starting the trial needs no card, so there is nothing to cancel separately. Deleting the account closes it, and any live subscription is cancelled at the same time.

What happens to my certificate documents?

Certificate documents, their issue and expiry dates and the versions replaced by a renewal are all removed with the account. Everything is kept only while the account is open, which is why the audit PDF export is worth taking first.
