Certly vs Trustwell (FoodLogiQ)

If you are weighing Certly against Trustwell's FoodLogiQ product line, the difference is scope: Certly does one job, which is collecting supplier certificates and tracking every expiry date until an auditor can see the whole plant on one screen. FoodLogiQ, as the research we gathered describes it, sits inside a wider food safety and traceability suite bought through a demo-led process, so the real

Where each product sits

Certly holds your supplier list and the certificate types each supplier owes you, such as allergen declarations, CoAs and audit certificates. It tracks the expiry date on every document, raises alerts at configurable thresholds of 90, 60 and 30 days before expiry, and shows one screen per plant where every certificate reads current, expiring soon, expired or missing. That screen exports to PDF for an auditor to review. That is the whole product. There is no traceability module, no recall workflow, no HACCP plan builder.

Trustwell's FoodLogiQ product line, as described in the research we gathered, is a food safety and traceability suite: supplier management with document requests sits alongside traceability, recall management, and audit and inspection management. Our research records it as sold primarily to brands, distributors and larger manufacturers, typically through demo-led enterprise sales. If you need recall readiness and supply chain traceability in the same system as your supplier documents, that is a materially different requirement from the one Certly is built for.

How to read the comparison below

Everything in the Certly column is something the product does or is being built to do, and nothing more. Certly is not open to customers yet, so there are no customer stories here and no results to quote: we are taking waitlist signups while the product is finished.

Everything in the FoodLogiQ column comes from our own desk research, dated 25 September 2026, drawn from trustwell.com and foodlogiq.com. It is deliberately thin. Where we could not establish something, the cell says so rather than guessing, and we publish no price figure for them because we found no public price list. Before you make a decision on a platform of that size, read their current pages and take the demo. A summary written by a competitor, however careful, is not a substitute for their own documentation.

What Certly is built to do

One supplier record, with the documents you actually require

Add and edit suppliers with their contact details and the certificate types that supplier owes your plant, so a missing allergen declaration is visible as a gap rather than an absence nobody noticed.

Expiry dates tracked by a scheduled job, not by memory

Every certificate carries its expiry date, and a scheduled job computes status against configurable alert thresholds at 90, 60 and 30 days before expiry, set per certificate type or as a plant-wide default.

Suppliers upload without an account

A single-use, expiring signed link in an email takes the supplier contact straight to an upload page tied to the right supplier and certificate type. No portal login for them to lose.

Chasing that happens whether or not you remember

Automated email chase sequences go to supplier contacts for certificates approaching expiry or already lapsed, each with a one-click upload link, and each send is logged against the supplier with its delivery result.

One screen an auditor can sit in front of

The dashboard shows certificate status per supplier in four states: current, expiring soon, expired, missing. No pivot tables, no colour-coded tab from last quarter.

A PDF you can hand over

The same status view exports to PDF for auditor review, so the evidence pack is generated rather than assembled by hand the week before the visit.

Your plant's data stays scoped to your plant

Certly runs single-tenant per plant, with plant-scoped data isolation enforced on every supplier and certificate query, hosted on Amazon Web Services in the product's own Postgres database.

Limits stated in the product, not buried

A persistent disclaimer on the dashboard and on the PDF export says that Certly tracks and reminds, and does not verify certificate authenticity or guarantee regulatory compliance.

When to choose which

Choose Trustwell's FoodLogiQ, or a suite like it, when

Supplier documents are one requirement among several. If you also need traceability across the chain, recall management and inspection workflows in a single system, a suite is the honest answer and Certly is not a substitute for it: our research records those modules on their side and we have none of them.

Your buying process expects a demo, a scoped implementation and a negotiated agreement. Larger manufacturers, brands and distributors often need that, both for internal approval and because the deployment touches more than one team. Certly is built for a QA manager who wants to be running by the end of the afternoon, which is a different kind of purchase.

Your procurement or IT review asks for things we do not have yet. We list them plainly in the table above: no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report, no single sign-on or two-factor authentication, no data processing agreement ready to countersign, no residency choice, and no self-serve export of the full data set. If any of those is a gate you cannot pass without, that decides the question before any feature comparison does.

Your group has corporate document control standards that reach well beyond certificate expiry, or your estate is larger than 30 sites. A single-workflow tracker will not carry that weight.

Choose Certly when

The problem you can name in one sentence is that certificates go out of date and nobody notices until an auditor asks. That is the problem Certly is shaped around, and the sequence, alert at 90, 60 and 30 days, chase the supplier contact automatically, let them upload through a link with no login, then show the whole plant on one screen and export it, is the entire product rather than a module inside one.

You are one plant, or a group of up to 30 plants, with tens to a couple of hundred suppliers per site. Starter covers 50 suppliers on one site and Professional covers 200. Multi-site carries no supplier cap and covers up to 30 sites under one agreement, with sites added and switched from a single sign-in.

You want a published price before you talk to anyone. All three tiers are on the pricing page: Starter $3,228 a year, Professional $5,388 a year and Multi-site $10,788 a year, each billed annually, which works out at 269, 449 and 899 dollars a month, 10 percent off the monthly rate for paying up front. You can weigh those numbers against a re-audit fee or the hours a coordinator currently spends re-sending the same email, and decide without a call.

You want the trail an auditor asks for kept rather than tidied away. Expired certificates, versions replaced by a renewal and the full chase log stay while your account is open, and a renewal never deletes the document it replaces, so a question about the declaration that was valid last March has an answer.

You are moving off a spreadsheet and conditional formatting, and what you want is the chasing to happen without you. This is usually a step up from a spreadsheet and a calendar reminder rather than a switch from another platform.

If neither shape fits

We keep separate comparison pages for the other tools you are likely to be looking at, including TraceGains, Safefood 360° and SafetyChain, plus a wider alternatives page, a guide to choosing software as a small plant, and a page on tracking certificates across more than one plant if the multi-site question is the one you are really asking. You can see where Certly is and is not the right answer without reading the same argument twice.

Questions

Is Certly a replacement for Trustwell's FoodLogiQ?

Only for the certificate collection and expiry part. Our research records the FoodLogiQ line as including traceability, recall and audit and inspection management, and Certly has none of those. If supplier certificate expiry is the whole problem, Certly is built for exactly that; if it is one requirement out of four, a suite is the sensible comparison.

How much does FoodLogiQ cost?

We found no public price list in our research of 25 September 2026, and the route recorded is a demo request, so we will not publish a figure on their behalf. Ask them directly. Certly's own prices are published: Starter at $3,228 a year for up to 50 suppliers, Professional at $5,388 a year for up to 200, and Multi-site at $10,788 a year for up to 30 sites with no supplier cap, all billed annually.

Does Certly check that a certificate is genuine?

No. Certly stores the document against the supplier and certificate type, tracks the expiry date and chases when it is due, and says plainly on both the dashboard and the PDF export that it does not verify certificate authenticity or guarantee regulatory compliance. Verification remains a QA judgement.

Do our suppliers need an account to upload documents?

No. Certly sends a single-use, expiring signed link by email that opens an upload page tied to that supplier and certificate type, so the supplier contact does not create a login or remember a password.

When do the alerts fire?

A scheduled job computes certificate status against configurable alert thresholds at 90, 60 and 30 days before expiry, set per certificate type or as a plant-wide default, and the dashboard shows each certificate as current, expiring soon, expired or missing.

We run more than one plant. Does Certly handle that?

Yes, up to 30 sites. Certly is single-tenant per plant with plant-scoped data isolation on every supplier and certificate query, and the Multi-site plan covers up to 30 sites under one agreement with no supplier cap, at $10,788 a year billed annually, which works out at 899 dollars a month. Sites are added and switched from one sign-in.

What happens to an old certificate when a supplier sends the renewal?

It is kept. Expired certificates, versions replaced by a renewal and the chase history all stay while your account is open, because that trail is what an auditor asks for, and a renewal never deletes the document it replaces. Archiving a supplier keeps its records and stops its reminders, and deleting your account removes everything at once.

Can we try Certly today?

Not yet. Certly is in waitlist mode, so you can join the list and we will get in touch when plants can sign up. The funnel is built as 14 days free with no card at the start, sign-in is by email and password, and billing runs through Stripe.
